    Translation into Tagalog

The Philippines has two national languages. Tagalog, spoken here alongside English, is used in all important areas of life: from education to contracts and agreements. The Philippines is an important player in the agricultural market, so translation into Tagalog is of great importance not only for tourism but also in the business sector.

Tagalog is not a language that is easy to master with the help of online translators. In business correspondence or negotiations, translation errors are very costly. Companies planning to enter the Philippine market will communicate with government agencies and suppliers, consumers, and partners. Therefore, localization and translation by professional translators are becoming a necessity.

    Features of the Tagalog language

Although Tagalog currently uses the Latin alphabet, its syntax, word formation, and politeness system are significantly different from Ukrainian or English. Translation into Tagalog is complicated, in particular, by:

    • word order that does not coincide with European languages
    • using affixes instead of cases and tenses (for example, mag-report, nag-report, i-report — action in the present, past, or imperative form), and
    • socially marked politeness, which affects not only the address, but also the grammar of the sentence itself.

The Ukrainian “report” can be rendered as ulat , nag-uulat, or iuulat — depending on whether it is a document, action, or order. Without accurate context, even a single word can be translated incorrectly, changing the entire meaning. Therefore, it is better to order translation from / into Tagalog at a professional agency that knows all the intricacies of working with Asian languages.

Tagalog translation: considerations to keep in mind

Translating from Russian into Tagalog is not about replacing words, but about accurately reproducing the content, taking into account grammatical and stylistic differences. The complex system of cases and stylistic nuances is easy to lose without adaptation to the genre and purpose of the text.

Translation from Ukrainian into Tagalog requires syntactic restructuring: Ukrainian sentences are often multi-layered, while Tagalog tends to have simple constructions with a focus on the verb or the performer of the action. In a Ukrainian contract, the word “executor” may need clarification: tagapgalpatat — the one who executes a decision or law, or kontratista — an executor under a contract. The wrong choice — and all legal responsibility is shifted to the wrong entity. Therefore, when translating from Ukrainian into Tagalog, it is best to work with double checking: translation — editing — context check.
