Peculiarities of Texts Written Translation
There’s a proverb: “What was written by a pen can’t be erased by an axe”. That is why thoroughness is important in every detail during the written translation. After all, if specialists can correct themselves during interpretation, in the case of a book translation that has already gone to press, nothing can be done.
The term “translation” is derived from the Latin “translatio” or “translationis”, which means “to change the place” or “to transport something”. A translator can move words, select synonyms, change a sentence structure. Meanwhile, it’s important not to distort the original meaning during such “transportation”.
The written translation requires high concentration and responsibility to convey the original meaning and even the smallest details. Thus, a translator should know the terminology, be able to find and analyse additional materials. Only then will the translation become a dignified equivalent of the original.
