MK:translations: nine years in the translation and localization industry

Year 2014. A team of three and the first office on Maydan Nezalezhnosti.

That’s how the story of Mister Kronos, that later became MK:translations, began.

Year 2023. A team of 25 in-house specialists and almost 900 translators and editors from around the world. Offices in Kyiv and Tallinn.

This year has been a powerful time of transformation; we are growing and developing new sectors.

Our team

At the moment MK:translations includes the following departments:

• The easy-going and positive Sales Department
• The agile and highly organized Project Department
• Thorough and experienced translators and editors
• The creative and inventive Marketing Department
• The driven and smiling HR Department
• The serious and responsible Financial Department

Some employees work from the Kyiv office, others — remotely from Dnipro, Bila Tserkva, Zhytomyr, Odesa, the west of Ukraine, and even from Europe: Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, and Spain.

Services, new projects and collaboration

• We actively develop the segment of computer, browser and mobile games localization, and already have several established customers and interesting cases. We took part in Games Gathering 2023 Kyiv, an international gaming conference, where we presented our “Turnkey game localization” service including stages from audience cultural background research to character voiceover by professional voice artists.

• We are noting higher demand for the multi-language content marketing services, so we willingly engage professional copywriters and provide our customers with effective texts in 84 languages.
• We have added a new service — chuchοtage— to our website. This is a type of interpretation when the interpreter whispers words to one or two people, which helps maintain confidentiality.
• We continue close cooperation with our long-standing gambling and betting customers, translating online casino and gaming projects, internal messages, and technical documents, providing user support in chats and on social media.

• We have created a Telegram channel for lawyers. There we publish interesting tasks, materials and useful links on legal documents translation. We have also held several webinars and a workshop where we looked at the main issues and problems concerning legal documents preparation in English.
• We saw some interest towards literary translation from publishers and authors of fiction and non-fiction literature. We have held several webinars for Amazon sellers and are working on a joint project with Ranok publishing house.
• We have taken advantage of Estonian e-residency and registered a company in Tallinn. This market was selected due to the developed startup industry and IT sector, as well as its closeness to the Scandinavian countries, which facilitates international expansion. We have launched a multi-language website in English, Estonian and Russian to provide our European customers with access to information in a convenient language.
• We joined SUP (Union of Ukrainian Entrepreneurs) uniting over 1,000 companies in 55 industries. This opens new prospects of mutually beneficial partnership; besides direct cooperation in localization and translation, we organize exciting collabs and events.

• We created the Academy of Lead Generation on LinkedIn, and the first wave of students have already graduated. The best of them became our interns, and are applying the knowledge they obtained during the course to real-life cases.

These nine years have been the time of learning, trials and changes, but every challenge was beneficial for us, because it helped us grow and become better. But the MK:translation mission remains the same: we help Ukrainian businesses enter international markets, and assist foreign businesses in getting to know Ukrainian consumers by providing translation and localization services.
