First steps towards the Ukrainian version of Hollow Home: we started working on the localization of the long-awaited game
Remember when we talked about our partnership with Games Gathering 2024 Lviv and how we gifted a young Ukrainian indie studio Twigames a localization of their game? You can read about it here: Behind the scenes of Game Gathering 2024 Lviv.
Today, we have good news: the work on localization has already begun and we are ready to share the first details of this project.

Hollow Home is built around the life of 12-year-old Max from Mariupol, who found himself under siege due to the Russian invasion. He faces danger every day and is forced to make difficult decisions. The developers say that they wanted to show all the horrors of war through a child’s eyes and were inspired by real stories from Mariupol.

Initially, the game was created in English for the Western market, and very soon Ukrainians will have a chance to play it in their native language thanks to the efforts of MK:translations team.
Some details about the project
- Two translators with experience in localization of similar RPG products are working on the game.
- The terminology in the game is not complex, it is mostly common everyday vocabulary.
- As a reference for character leveling and dialogs, the developers followed the example of Disco Elisium from ZA/UM.
- To ensure convenient and efficient work, we use Crowdin, a platform that allows us to coordinate work between developers, translators, and project managers, ensuring consistency and quality control at all stages of localization.
- Estimated deadline for the project is June 18, 2024.
That’s all the details we can share so far. To be continued…
