How it was done

Games Gathering organizers reached out to us for the translation of articles about the conference from Russian into English that would be posted on the DOU website. The articles featured a large number of illustrations, so they required a prior layout. The main requirement for the translation was to add the translator’s signature and the details of their diploma in the relevant field.

Our task was to ensure high-quality translation of gaming-related articles by a certified translator from Russian into English

Article translation on GameDev and gaming has its peculiarities due to the specifics of the topic and audience:

professional gaming jargon can be a challenge for an inexperienced translator, as without knowledge of technical terms it can be hard to find exact equivalents in another language;
some articles may feature references to specific events, memes, or inside jokes from the gamer and developer community. These elements must be adapted and explained to ensure that readers understand their meaning;
Screenshots, diagrams, or other images in articles about gaming should be adapted by translators to match the text.
